Dungeon Ledger Review

Published September 3, 2026

The best compliment I can pay Dungeon Ledger is that I kept forgetting to review it because I was playing it. Running a dungeon as a business sounds like a one-joke premise, but the economic simulation underneath is genuinely well-tuned.

Heroes arrive with budgets, expectations, and Yelp reviews. Kill them too efficiently and the hero guilds send auditors; too gently and they loot you blind. Threading that needle across 60 monster types and a tech tree of questionable ethics is where the game lives.

Balance wobbles in the final third when money stops mattering — a known issue the developers are addressing in the 1.8 branch. Even so, this is one of the year’s most pleasant surprises.

Strengths

  • Genuinely novel premise
  • Sharp, funny writing
  • Excellent Android port

Weaknesses

  • Late-game balance wobbles
  • Tutorial is too brief
Our Verdict: A management roguelike with a real identity. The novelty could have carried it for an hour; the systems carry it for fifty.

Platform Notes

Steam and Android versions have separate save systems, though daily seeds are shared. Touch controls are optional on Windows tablets.
